From: abalint Dears Auria, Ermopouli is on the Cyclades, it is the capital of Syros island. To my biggets surprise as well is the most city-like city in Greece, perhaps the only one, but definitively the most beautiful. You know Greec was under Turkish occupation for longtime, it did not develop as the other countries in Europe. The only exception is Syros, here was the big shipyard in the 19th century. It is till very important harbour even if meanwhile the Korinthian Canal was open. Ermoupoli has only 8o.ooo inhabitants, but for instance here is one of the most beutiful theather houses in the world. This is my first holiday in ten years, and I am very happy with it. There are no tourists here, only travellers. I live on the sea/side, not far from the city, in a bay called Abela. I am in 2o'' in the sea, but often i sleep on the terrace or on the beach, because close is not not enough, if there is a way to be closer to the sea. Also this island is renowned for its 5ooo years old civilization. Not far from my house, in the bay Kastri was found the famous prehistoric statue called The thinker. One cannot see on the reproductions, but one has to imagine the wind on the picture, this man thinksh against the wind. the whole island is only 3o skm, but there is lot to explore, i visit every now and than different cities. greetings & a love, anna There is a taverna ear me, and they ask me whether On 7 Jul 2006, at 20:56, Auriea wrote: >> On 2006/07/07, at 19:44, anna balint wrote: >> greetings & love from Ermopoulis, > where is that? > =) > Auriea.
